From Borno State to the hangar floor

Isaac Balami was born and raised in Borno State, in Nigeria's northeast, where he experienced poverty firsthand. Rather than let circumstance define his path, he funded his own early education through farm labor and construction work, eventually earning the scholarship that opened the door to aviation.
That grounding shaped both his engineering discipline and his sense of obligation to others — a throughline that runs from his reform work at NAAPE to the four community programs run today by the Isaac Balami Foundation.
He holds a Master's degree in Fraud and Risk Management from the University of Salford, UK, alongside qualifications in aviation management and aircraft maintenance engineering, and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in California.
